May 20, 2007 Conference - Phase 2 Is A GO!!!
At a well attended Church Conference on Sunday, May 20, 2007, after well prepared financial and construction presentations by Doug Keeler and Mike Mack and good questions from the crowd the vote was unanimous to begin construction immediately on our new 5 classroom addition to the west of our current Christian Education Center.
Now our Project Manager Ken Adams will begin coordination with the builder, Ken Funk of Funk Construction in Lebanon, the original builders of our Worship Center.
Ken hopes that with plenty of unpaid servants from Hope Church offering their sweat equity to this project we can keep the cost well below the projected $650,000 we have been approved for by the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference UMC Loan Board to cover our current mortgage and this new construction. You can help answer that prayer by saying YES when Ken puts out the call in several weeks for volunteers.
Ken believes that it would not be an unreasonable expectation to be fully in our new building by Christmas, 2007. to reach that goal we will need plenty of the unpaid servants mentioned above, even for just a couple of hours a week. We will require relatively good weather. We need a smooth completion of the remaining Amity Township approvals. We need to remain, throughout this process, in God's will.
Therefore, please be in prayer with me, and all of our leaders at Hope, that this second phase of construction will all be about what God wants for us, and that it be simply one more step in our journey of self-construction, indeed self re-construction, for ourselves, and all we may attract from the many unchurched of our community to the love of Jesus Christ here at Hope.

A Letter From Pastor Ken Announcing The
May 20, 2007 Meeting To Vote On Phase 2
To all Members, attenders and friends of Hope Church, Douglassville Pa,
I received a phone call just a couple of minutes ago from our Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Treasurer, Moses Kumar, confirming that the Conference Loan Board, in teleconference just this morning, has approved our loan request for $650,000.00 for a term length of 20 years to be used for the construction of our planned Phase Two Christian Education Wing addition and the continued pay down of our current mortgage on the completed Phase One Church Worship Center.
This approval means that all are invited to meet in an official Hope Church Conference on Sunday May 20th after the 10:45am worship celebration service for a final vote on the project. At that meeting Doug Keeler, Building Team Leader, and Mike Mack, Finance Team Leader, will share the final plans for this project, originally shared with the church at our Congregational Consensus meeting on Sunday March 25th.
Please feel free to speak with Doug, Mike, or myself, before this meeting to discuss any questions you have about the project and it's financing.
We have been very fervently praying for approval of this loan at 20 years as the monthly amount we will pay will only be a few dollars above that which we currently pay on just the Phase One mortgage, and will allow us in the years to come, as we grow in attendance and tithing, to more quickly plan our Phase Three Worship Area to the east of our current worship space.
